Episode 71: Caitlin’s Story: The Giving Keys, Finding Your Purpose, and Helping People Experiencing Homelessness

Caitlin Crosby, Founder of The Giving Keys

Caitlin Crosby is an actress, singer, speaker, author, and she’s the founder of The Giving Keys

The Giving Keys is a social enterprise that hires people experiencing homelessness to make their beautiful, inspirational jewelry – and helps them transition out of homelessness. The Giving Keys signature jewelry includes repurposed old and new keys with inspiring words and phrases stamped on it.

The goal of The Giving Keys is to inspire people and to encourage them to pay it forward, and recipients of the jewelry are encouraged to (one day) give their key away to someone who needs the message more than they do. The Giving Keys website includes a blog filled with stories of customers who have paid it forward and given their keys away. If you’re looking for inspiring stories, check out their blog.

The Giving Keys jewelry has been carried in over 1,400 stores and they have partnered with Nordstrom, Starbucks, Anthropologie, Magnolia and Free People. The company has helped over 130 people transitioning out of homelessness.

Caitlin has been named among Oprah’s SuperSoul100 list of visionaries (in 2016) and her jewelry has been featured on The Today Show, Ellen, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, and many other media outlets. The Giving Keys have been worn by the likes of Oprah, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Amal Clooney, Kate Hudson, and so many others.

Caitlin’s new book, “You Are the Key: Turning Imperfections into Purpose”, is a powerful memoir about her life, how she found her purpose, her failures and successes throughout life, The Giving Keys, and so much more. Caitlin vulnerably—and humorously—shares her imperfections and struggles as a woman, a wife, a mother, and a CEO.

Caitlin joins the 1 Girl Revolution podcast to talk about her journey through life, growing up in Hollywood, her work as an actress and singer, how The Giving Keys came to be and how it’s evolved, and so much more. You don’t want to miss this inspiring episode!
