Episode 93: Hailey: Sister Love, Epilepsy Awareness, and Helping Others

Hailey Scheinman and her twin sister Olivia
Livy and Hailey Scheinman

Hailey Scheinman and her twin sister Olivia (Livy) were born in December 2004. Hailey was a healthy baby, while Livy was born with a brain malformation, which resulted in epilepsy, cerebral palsy, numerous other health issues. The Scheinman family embarked on what would be a long, complicated journey, but their journey resulted in numerous projects to raise awareness about epilepsy and to help other individuals and families dealing with similar challenges. Through the years, Hailey has become one of Livy’s most outspoken and compelling advocates – and she’s also become an advocate for all those living with epilepsy and other health conditions. Hailey is raising awareness about epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and sharing her and Livy’s story with the world – to empower and encourage others.

Hailey joins the 1 Girl Revolution podcast to share her life story and Livy’s story. Hailey talks about her family’s journey, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and other health challenges that Livy and her family have experienced – and how she and her family have dedicated their lives to raising awareness, helping others, and empowering others. Hailey talks about the organization that she and her family founded called Livy’s Hope and the fundraising campaign, Lemonade for Livy, that was created to raise awareness and funds for programs and services at the Epilepsy Foundation. The initiative has raised over $700,000.

Hailey also talks about her role as President and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation Kids Crew, a program that has over 2,500 members across the country. Hailey is working to help other kids (and adults) learn about epilepsy, engage others, advocate for change, raise awareness, give back, and spread kindness. Hailey encourages kids to get involved and make a difference in their communities. She also wants them to know that they are not alone in their journey. She believes that every person has the power to change the world and says, “You just have to get out there and do it!” She added, “We can do anything when we work together.”
