Episode 182: Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents – Ruby Kate Chitsey

On this week’s episode of The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast, the amazing Ruby Kate Chitsey, founder of Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents, is back! We had Ruby on the podcast three years ago (listen to episode #67) and we are so excited to have her back on The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast to fill us in on what’s been happening with Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents and to talk about their incredible work, and her new book – Kindness Is My Hobby: How to Change the World Right Where You Are.

Ruby started Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents when she was 10-years-old, when she decided to start asking seniors living in the nursing home that her mom was working at – what three things they would wish for, if they had three wishes. What started as her own little passion project, has grown to serve tens of thousands of seniors across the country – and around the world.

Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that strives to bring joy to the lives of the 1.5 million elders living in America’s nursing homes, most notably the 975,000 residents subsisting on a government stipend as low as $40 per month.

Most people that Three Wishes serves ask for really simple things like candy bars, a book, movies, and cat food to feed local cats who come to their window; others wish for things like a trip to the water park, to attend a wedding, or a concert. Recently, Three Wishes had a resident that wished to go to a Foo Fighters concert.

Three Wishes has raised up a community of amazing kids who visit seniors in their local area, wherever they live, and grant wishes. This organization is also a reminder that we can all do something to serve our community and take care of our local seniors – by visiting, sending cards, throwing a pizza party, or granting wishes. We can all do something and the world would be a better place if we all did a little more to spread kindness.

Ruby comes back on The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast to share her own life story and to talk about the incredible work of Three Wishes for Ruby’s Residents.

In this episode, you’ll hear:
