Theresa Sumpter is the founder of Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue. Theresa and her incredible network of volunteers answer calls, anytime day or night, to rescue innocent dogs in need. DPC partners with a local veterinary clinic to make sure that each dog gets the medical treatment he/she needs and then works to find foster homes for these sweet animals until they find their forever home. In a few short years, Detroit Pit Crew has saved over 2,100 dogs.
As a survivor herself, Harmony Dust Grillo knows the pain and suffering of abuse and sex trafficking. After undergoing her own healing and personal transformation, Harmony chose to return to the sex industry to help other women (and girls) gain the same freedom and healing she has.
Meagan was homeless, living out of a car, and suffering from alcoholism. She ended up in rehab and was able to turn her life around. Meagan is now sober and helps other women find hope, happiness, and healing on their road to recovery.
Nancy co-founded Los Angeles Habilitation House (LAHH) in 2008 to help people with disabilities find happiness and purpose through work and in their communities. LAHH creates and maintains job opportunities for people with disabilities and helps them to develop, express, and apply their talents and maximize their contribution to the community.

Gaby is a survivor of sexual assault, but uses her own experience as a way to connect with other women and help them overcome their own trauma and/or addiction. Gaby now works at a rehabilitation center for women, empowering other women.
Evelyn lost her sixth child, Paul, after he lived for only 41 minutes. She knows the heartbreak of loss, but also the power of every life. So she decided to turn her heartbreak into something beautiful and opened a maternity home for women in need.
Kristen’s husband, J.J., was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme and was given 4 months to live. Kristen and J.J. decided to fight his cancer together and they ended up having 3.5 years together. J.J.’s legacy lives on in the lives of his two sons, and in the unfailing love and hope that Kristen exudes. Everyday is a gift.
This is Carla. She once was an addict, but now she’s clean and she uses her own experience to help other women through addiction and recovery. Carla is an incredible woman, with an incredible story, who reminds us that — there is always hope.
Marilyn and a group of her friends came up with an innovative concept to stop human trafficking in her community and throughout her state by putting stickers in rest areas and other high risk areas for trafficking. This project has dispersed thousands upon thousands of labels and saved countless victims from the grips of human trafficking.
